December 4th, 11th & 18th 6:30pm-8pm
Instructor: Les Ober

Classes will include the following:

Learning to be an actor on stage is very much like playing an instrument. You can’t perform Mozart or Bach unless you know how to play the instrument. An actor has to learn techniques and training before they can perform Shakespeare or Tennessee Williams.

The class will cover basic warm-up techniques such as stretching, centering, use of the senses, and vocal warmups.

Theatre games are important for relaxing, focusing, confidence building, and energy levels.
Improvisations are great for an actor to practice spontaneity, honesty, creativity, building self-confidence, and being able to communicate more clearly.

The class will introduce acting theoreticians such as Stanislavski (method acting), Lee Strasberg, Meisner, and Viola Spolin to build approaches for your acting.

Each class will include scene work so the actor can practice what they learned. Scene work helps the actor with different characters and excerpted scenes to work on and develop.
